Making an Entrance with New Gates

Case Study: Setting New Gates

With the drive sloping on two planes, a significant amount of the original driveway was removed and recast, to ensure a smooth entrance into the property.

The footings for the floor beam were dug, and the reinforcement cage and starter bars for the pillars cast level with concrete to allow a perfect fit for the gates to come. Integral to the floor beam were drainage gullies, to take away surface water/mud and leave the driveway clean during heavy rains.

The pillars were built, again using reinforced concrete, then coped, rendered and finally given a textured finish to match the rest of the property. Conduits were cast in place in the event the client decided to have motorisation for the gates and/or lights in the future.

The client had specified the aluminium gates from Lapeyre, which matched the house shutters and gave an elegant entrance to the property.
