From Covered Terrace to Sun Room

Case Study: Terrace to Sun Lounge

The property has a covered terrace, enjoying stunning views of the Pyrenees. However the timber support posts and side wall/window were in very poor condition and detracted from the overall look of the property.

In addition, the owners wanted to increase the usability of the space, and to enclose it so it could be used in colder months.

The old wall/glazed area was removed and a new wall built, with double glazed window unit, then finished to match the rest of the property. The bedroom window, which looked out onto the terrace, was removed and blocked up. It was rendered to match the property on the outside. The central pillar was replaced with block and rendered. A suspended ceiling was built, insulated, plaster boarded and skimmed.

Finally bifold doors, specified and brought in from the UK, were fitted, to give a huge glazed frontage, enabling the views to be enjoyed during colder months.

Paul Coward is in the middle of a second phase of building work at our house in France. Paul is efficient, thorough, trustworthy and keeps us totally up to date on the job in hand with emails and photos of work in progress.

He started off last year with a construction repair on the house, which required very technical knowledge, then completed a new open plan kitchen/living room space and is now working on more renovations and extensions to our house.

Paul is reliable, conscientious and very pleasant to work with, and we have already recommended him to friends and family.
